Benga Harrison- Director
Benga Harrison has worked in the nonprofit sector of Birmingham for 16 years. She comes to Hands On Birmingham from Living River: A Retreat on the Cahaba where she served as the Director of Development. She has held the positions of Director of Development, Executive Director and Program Coordinator, and worked as a consultant to nonprofits as the Vice President of Client Services. These positions have helped her hone her skills in leadership, fundraising, organizational development, training and education. Through her work in these organizations and her work through her church, her understanding and passion to give back to the community and the importance of volunteerism has grown. Benga received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology and a concentration in Leadership Studies from Birmingham-Southern College.
Benga has been married for 38 years to James T. (Tom) Harrison who is an engineer at Southern Nuclear. Before starting her work in the nonprofit sector, Benga was privileged to work full-time at home helping to raise two daughters Walker and Kennedy who are now 31 years-old and 26 years-old respectfully. As of June 2015, Benga was honored to become the mother-in-law of Jordan O. Middleton who also works as an engineer in the Birmingham community. Benga enjoys scuba diving and spending time with her family.
Ashley Goodwin-Market Development Manager
Ashley Goodwin brings with her a passion for helping others and a love for her community. Ashley graduated from the University of West Florida with a BA in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing. After traveling to Zambia in 2011 to work in local orphanages she discovered her passion for those in need. While in Zambia Ashley participated in feeding programs, community outreach and helped orphaned children with their studies. She also enjoys being around people and brings with her several years of customer service experience.
Ashley is a Florida native who recently moved to the Birmingham area. She loves traveling, running and spending time with her family. Ashley is excited to help her community through Hands On Birmingham!
Tawanna Willoughby-Community Liaison
Tawanna Willoughby has served as the Administrative Assistant with Hands On Birmingham for over one year. She enjoys working directly with our volunteers and is known for her kind spirit and passion for volunteerism. In addition to her energy and personality, she brings with her several years of customer service experience.
Tawanna is a Birmingham native and enjoys trying out new local restaurants with her 8 year old daughter, Tristian. She also enjoys giving back to her community and is very active in her church.
