Hands On Birmingham

Calling All Hands On Birmingham Volunteers!!

Hands On Birmingham is looking for some all-star volunteers to be a part of our organization during major times of need; such as, around our days of service.

Hands On Birmingham Advocate and Day of Service Volunteer Description

  • Be a Hands On Birmingham community advocate by particpating in agency fairs. By being an HOB adovcate you will talk about HOB's mission, volunteerism in the community, current volunteer opportunities, how to sign up for projects online, and our major days of service. HOB will provide you will all the materials needed. (Times vary throughout the year and could be on weekdays/weekends in our five county area.)
  • Major Days of Service: Project Coordinators. HOB is in need of Project Coordinators throughout the year. HOB will train you in the specifics of how to be a PC and what to expect when you go on a project. PC tasks may include:
    • Conduct a call down to ensure that all project logistics are confirmed
    • Check volutneers in and pass out volunteer waivers
    • Introduce the volunteers to the nonprofit agency represenative
    • Do and HOB volunteer orientation of what tasks will be performed during the project
    • Provide volunteers with water, supplies, and responsibilities for the project
    • Manage the project volunteers to ensure the project is completed on time and everything goes smoothly
    • Answer any questions about HOB or volunteering in the community
    • Make sure that all volunteers are being safe
    • Conduct a post-project reflection to see how volunteers feel and what they have learned during their project
    • Act as an HOB liaison and report any issues that you encountered on your project

  • Major Days of Service: Office Help
    • Help HOB Staff put together project packets
    • Help HOB Staff organize project supplies

  • Major Days of Service: Promoters
    • Hand out HOB Event flyers and handbills
    • Be a social media project promoter

When you sign up a Hands On Birmingham staff person will contact you to set up a time for an orientation.
